SHINE
We’ve all heard the expression S.H.I.N.E. But, what does SHINE really mean?
Over the remaining months of this school year, Greenacres School will dive deeper into the meaning of each letter from our favorite acronym.
As we move into the month of APRIL, we are exploring the N in SHINE, which stands for Nurture.
Our Librarian, Ms.Thomas is featuring grade-appropriate books that have a special meaning on Nurture. In addition, teachers will discuss the value of nurturing with the students in class.

Here’s how parents can help! We have placed a SHINE mailbox in the main office and SHINE cards in the classrooms for students to reflect and share how they view innovation this month. Some of these cards will be announced by 5th graders during Friday announcements or displayed on the SHINE bulletin board outside the main office for all to read and share.
Nurture: Practicing self-care and belonging through well-being, inclusion, diversity, and equity. Children can show Nuture by encouraging friends who are nervous about a test or performance or by showing empathy while comforting a friend who is feeling sad or listening when someone needs to talk.

Volunteers Needed
Our parent volunteers are the driving force of our PTA, helping us provide the Greenacres community with a multitude of activities and experiences. Some programs we run include after school clubs, fun family events, community service projects and other enrichment programming. Without your help, none of this would be possible. Please consider volunteering for the 2024- 2025 school year by filling out our volunteer form HERE. You can find a description of all of the PTA committees on our website. If you have any questions about the responsibilities of a particular committee or the time commitment, please feel free to reach out to Tulika Khemani. Thank you and I look forward to working together in the year ahead!
