AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS COMMITTEE

After School Clubs (ASC) Committee develops, plans, manages and oversees all aspects of the After School and Recess Clubs for two 12 week semester sessions scheduled in Fall and Spring.

ART ROOM VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers will help the Greenacres Art faculty with various projects during the school days throughout the year. We'll contact the volunteer group to see who can help as projects come up.

ARTFUL LOOKING COMMITTEE
The Artful Looking program (developed with the assistance of experienced museum educators) is a parent-led program designed to build students' visual literacy and critical thinking skills through studying works of art. Parent volunteers attend an annual training session and facilitate four sessions per year in the classroom. No prior knowledge of art or art history is required.

THE BACK TO SCHOOL PICNIC COMMITTEE
Plan our first school-wide event of the year!  The Back to School Picnic in early September is a great opportunity to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.  Responsibilities include planning activities for the students during the picnic (i.e. tattoo station), recruiting volunteers, organizing a pizza and bake sale and working with class parents to create signs for each classroom.  Some prep work needs to happen in the summer since this event takes place right when we return to school.

BELONGING COMMITTEE
Work in collaboration with parents, faculty and administration on programs and curriculum that are focused on building diversity and inclusion awareness in students’ everyday lives. This committee includes the Multi-Cultural and Learning From Our Differences teams, and also expands programming under the singular goal of Inclusion, Equity and Diversity.

BOOK FAIR COMMITTEE
Committee Chairs will organize our annual Book Fair (a 2 day event on or around Election Day).  Responsibilities include setup and break down of the books and materials and working in shifts during the day when the Book Fair is open.

BUDGET STUDY COMMITTEE
The Budget Study Committee is the PTA resource on all issues related to the Scarsdale School District's budget and budget process. Responsibilities include attending budget study sessions and Board of Education meetings regarding budget items.

C.H.I.L.D. (CHILDREN HAVING INDIVIDUAL LEARNING DIFFERENCES) LIASAON
C.H.I.L.D. is a committee of Scarsdale PT Council which offers a network of support, information, and resources to parents and teachers throughout the district with a student who struggles with school work or homework, receives support in a resource room, receives special education related services such as speech & language therapy, occupational therapy, or physical therapy, or who has an IEP or 504 accommodation plan or needs support with academics and social emotional functioning.
The C.H.I.L.D. liaison serves as the main point person for Greenacres families.  Responsibilities include thinking about all PTA sponsored events and helping to ensure accessibility for all.  The committee will also plan a Greenacres community gathering (usually a coffee in the beginning of the school year) for all who are interested.

CLASS PARENTS
Class Parents are a very important part of the Greenacres PTA. The primary goal of class parents is to support and build community within the classroom.  You will work closely with your classroom teacher and support them in any way they need. Class parents also serve as a communication liaison between the classroom families and the PTA.  Responsibilities include disseminating information and corresponding with parents throughout the year.  Generally, every class will have at least two class parents.

COMMUNITY SERVICE COMMITTEE
The Community Service Committee organizes several drives throughout the school year that help to teach our children the valuable lesson of giving back. Some community service projects that have been done in the past include making sandwiches for The Midgnight Run, a Lego drive for the Paulie Strong Foundation and food drives for various local organizations.

COMPACT COMMITTEE
The Compact Committee is a school based organization that gives equal opportunity for parents, teachers, administrators and the community to work on school related issues. The committee consists of the principal, two teachers and three parents.

CULTURAL ARTS COMMITTEE
The Cultural Arts Committee works with the school administration to coordinate assemblies on diverse subjects designed to appeal to various interests and grade levels.

ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY COMMITTEE 
The Environmental & Sustainability Committee collaborates with the school administration and faculty to identify ways that the school can be more environmentally friendly. The committee also educates our students (and their families) about adopting practices that will minimize harm to the environment.

FAIR COMMITTEE
This committee will be responsible for hiring vendors for entertainment and food at the annual Greenacres Fair.  You will also work with the District on insurance requirements and facility needs, plan out the events for the day, and recruit volunteers to help on the day of the event.

FIFTH GRADE YEAR END COMMITTEE
The Fifth Grade Year End Committee plans and oversees activities and projects for the 5th grade class. These activities include, but are not limited to, Movie Night, Zany Olympics, Yearbook, Moving Up Ceremony and Party and Field Day.  Co - chairs and volunteers for this committee should be parents of 5th graders.
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
This committee plans the Fall FUNdraiser and other community-building events throughout the year.  Events that have been done in the past include but are not limited to bingo and school-wide booing.

GREENACRES NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION LIAISON
GA Neighborhood Association Liaison serves as the Greenacres PTA's point of contact with the Greenacres Neighborhood Association.

KINDERGARTEN WELCOME COMMITTEE
The Kindergarten Welcome Committee assists and welcomes new parents to Kindergarten. They host two events each year - a cocktail welcome event for Kindergarten parents and a playground playdate for incoming Kindergarteners, siblings, and their parents.

LEARNING FROM OUR DIFFERENCES COMMITTEE
The Learning From Our Differences Program (LFOD) encourages children to be empathetic towards others who may be different from themselves and helps to build the skills needed to engage in respectful interactions.  The responsibilities of this committee include scheduling presenters for each grade level who will elevate the students understanding of what it is like to live with various types of differences.  Attending the programs which happen at various times throughout the year is encouraged but not mandatory for volunteers.

LEGISLATION COMMITTEE LIAISON
Work with PTC on all programming and communications involving legislators from Westchester County. This includes the Scarsdale PTC Legislative breakfast.
 
LIBRARY COMMITTEE
The Library Committee regularly assists the school librarian by checking in or out books for students and shelving books.  Volunteers will set up a schedule with the librarian that works best for them.

LUNCH PROGRAM LIAISON
The Lunch Program Liaison serves as the Liaison to the District Lunch Program.         
 
NEW FAMILIES AND BUDDY LIAISON 
The new family and buddy liaison welcomes new families to Greenacres School and connects them with current families to help them get to know the school community. The liaison is a resource for families when they move to the school district.

PTC DELEGATION COUNCIL
The PTC Delegate represents the Greenacres PTA at PTC council events.

SCARSDALE ADULT SCHOOL LIAISON
Scarsdale Adult School Liaison serves as the liaison to Scarsdale Adult School. They are responsible for communicating programs to the community.

SCARSDALE FRIENDS OF MUSIC AND THE ARTS
Scarsdale Friends of Music and the Arts is the parent booster group that supports visual and performing arts in the Scarsdale schools. The Liaison will represent Greenacres in their efforts.
 
SCHOOL PICTURE COMMITTEE
The School Picture Committee works with All-Star Photography to coordinate individual and class pictures in October.

SCHOOL PLAY COMMITTEE
The School Play Committee organizes all aspects of the school play with The Sandbox Theater. Responsibilities include communicating with families about rehearsals and play updates, recruiting cast heads and volunteers, creating a schedule for volunteers and helping out on the day of the final performances.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES COMMITTEE
The School Supplies Committee coordinates the ordering and distributing of custom school supply kits for each grade level at Greenacres.

SPIRIT WEAR/SPIRT DAY COMMITTEE
The School Supplies Committee coordinates the designing, ordering and selling of spirit wear as a fundraiser for the PTA.
   
SPORTS SWAP LIAISON
The Sports Swap Liaison acts as the Liaison to the PTC Sports Swap, assisting them with volunteers and publicizing the event.

STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK COMMITTEE
The Staff Appreciation Week Committee organizes and executes the GA staff appreciation week in May. Responsibilities include but are not limited to planning special events for the week and coordinating and ordering meals for the staff that week.

STEAM COMMITTEE
This committee will work closely with administrators and teachers to plan and execute a school wide STEAM event including workshops and hands on activities.

STUDENT DIRECTORY COMMITTEE
The Student Directory Committee manages the online directory for the Greenacres School community.

TALENT SHOW COMMITTEE
The Talent Show Committee organizes a school-wide talent show in the spring.

TECHNOLOGY POLICY LIAISON
The technology policy liaison works with the PTC on technology-related issues and initiatives and may be asked to attend quarterly meetings on technology-related focus areas.
 
WALKING SCHOOL BUS COMMITTEE
The Walking School Bus coordinates "walking routes" around Greenacres that children and families follow on the way to school on Friday mornings. The committee will need to make up the route maps and find an adult to lead each route. The committee will also be responsible for sending reminders before each walking school bus date.

YOUNG WRITERS WORKSHOP LIAISON
Serve as the liaison to Scarsdale's Young Writer's Workshop.  Work directly with the PTC chairs to plan and publicize the event and recruit volunteers to help on the day of the event.  Young Writer's Workshop generally takes place on a Saturday and is for 3rd - 5th graders.
