Greenacres celebrates National Native American Heritage Month ...

 

In honor of National Native American Heritage Month, Greenacres welcomed Indigenous Enterprise to our school on November 13th. Indigenous Enterprise is a Native American Dance Troupe whose mission is to preserve, promote, and advance Indigenous culture through the power of powwow song and dance. Our students were treated to high energy dance performances from champion powwow dancers in traditional Native American clothing. The performance ended with a dance-off lead by the troupe, and the excitement in the Learning Commons was palpable!
 ... and Diwali!
Several classes engaged in parent-led crafts to celebrate Diwali, a four to five day-long festival of lights, which is celebrated by Hindus, Jains, Sikhs and some Buddhists every autumn. Kids decorated lamps, called diyas, and celebrated the lights within themselves that honor this special holiday.

The District Belonging Survey is Now Open for Parents and Caregivers

 

The next step in our work around well-being, inclusion, diversity, and equity (WIDE)is our belonging survey. 

 

We have partnered with the Search Institute to develop and implement the survey to students in grades 4-12 and all parents/caregivers, faculty, and staff. 

 

The District is planning to survey every student in grades 4-12 during the first half of December. If you wish to opt your child out of taking the belonging survey, please complete this form no later than November 27, 2023.

Please feel free to take this survey multiple times if you have students in different grades and/or schools. It will remain open through December 31, 2023. Want more information?
