COMMUNITY SERVICE

Every year, we kick off our Greenacres Winter Food Drive during the week of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as a call to help improve the lives of those in our community, as Dr. King certainly did.

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?’" - Martin Luther King, Jr., Montgomery, Alabama 1957

We also chose the winter months as there is a greater need during this frigid period than at other times of the year. As usual, we are partnering with Feeding Westchester to help the most vulnerable across our county.

If you bring a child to see the school play later this month, please bring a food donation item as the cost of admission since kids 14 and under get to see the play for free.

Please help support this school-wide Community Service Initiative. You can purchase some items from the list below and bring them to school beginning Wednesday, January 17th.  The drive will continue until Friday, February 2nd. Please drop off your food donations in reusable tote bags if possible (Fresh Direct, Stop & Shop, etc.) by the building entrances. Feeding Westchester uses these bags to help distribute food items.

The collection will run from Wednesday, January 17th - Friday, February 2nd.

SUGGESTED ITEMS:

BROWN or WHITE RICE (no huge bags please)

Thank you for your continued support of our community. For reference, in January 2019 Greenacres collected 904 pounds of food. That was amazing. Let’s do something fabulous together in 2024.
